Cockpit Inspection

ОБСЛЕДОВАНИЕ КАБИНЫ

1) Check that the Landing Gear Handle is in the Neutral Position and with the Latch Locked to prevent inadvertent operation.

2) Check that all the Circuit Breaker Switches (on the rear RH Side Panel) are in the on position and all the Safety Covers, where fitted to Switches, are Closed.

3) Check that the Control Stick, Fire Control Trigger is in it’s Safe Position.

4) Check that all the Switches for powering the Flight Control Instruments and Avionics on the RH Side Panel are in the Off position.

5) Check that the RH Side Panel Switches “LH/RH Engines Military Power and Afterburner” (АВАРИЙН ОТКЛЮЧЕН ФОРСАЖА МАИСИМАЛ ЛЕВ/ПРАВ ДВИГ) are On.

6) Check that the RH Side Panel Switches “LH/RH Engines Oil Cut-Off Valves” (ПЕРЕКР КРАН ДАВЛЕН МАСЛА ЛЕВОГО/ ПРАВОГО ДВИГ) are On.

7) Check that the LH Side Panel “Cockpit Pressurization” Lever and “Cockpit Ventilation” (ВЕНТИЛЯЦИЯ КАБИНЫ) Switch are in the Open position.

8) Verify there are no Foreign Objects, Water or Ice in the Cockpit.

9) On the Main Instrument Panel, the IK-18 Oxygen Pressure and Flow Indicator (ИК-18 ИНДИКАТОР КИСЛОРОДА) is indicating a pressure of 130-150 kg/cm2.

10) Check the Pneumatic Systems Gauges on the LH Side Panel. The nominal pressures should be

Landing Gear Emergency Deployment System
ДАВЛЕНИЕ В АВАРИЙНОЙ БАЛЛОНЕ ШАССИ 50 kg/cm2
Flaps Emergency Deployment System
ДАВЛЕНИЕ В АВАРИЙНОЙ БАЛЛОНЕ ЗАКРЫЛКОВ 110-130 kg/cm2
Canopy Pressurization System 50 kg/cm2

11) Check the Clock (ЧАСЫ) time is set correctly, and the Chronometer is zeroed ready for Engine starts.

12) Check that the Barometric Altimeter (ВД-20 УКАЗАТЕЛЬ ВЫСОТЫ) is set to 0m and make sure that it corresponds to the QFE Barometric Pressure given by the Tower.

13) Operate the Engine Throttles over their full operating range to check for free movement and that their respective locks in the “Stop” (СТОП) and “Idle” (МАЛЫЙ ГАЗ) positions are operating correctly.

14) Check for the correct functioning of the Braking System by operating the Brake Lever on the Control Stick and observing the MA-12 Dual Brake Pressure Indicator (ДВУХ-СТРЕЛОЧНЫЙ МАНОМЕТР ТОРМОЗОВ) located on the lower part of the Main Instrument Panel. It should read 5 kg/cm2 when you start to operate the Brake Lever and 10+0.5 kg/cm2 when the Braking Lever is fully operated. Check the MA-12 Dual Brake Pressure Indicator for accurate and simultaneous braking/un-braking when operating the respective foot pedals.

15) The ARU-2V (АРУ-2В АВТОМ/РУЧНОЕ) Switch should be in the “AUTO” (АВТОМ) position.

16) The “Aileron Booster” (ГИДРОУС ЭЛЕРОНОВ) Switch located on the horizontal LH Side Panel should be in the On position.

17) On the RH Side Panel, check that the Oxygen Main Feed Valve is Fully Open.

18) On the RH Side Panel, check that the Oxygen System Control Panel Selectors are set to “Mix” (СМЕСЬ) and “Auto” (АВТ) respectively.

19) If the Aircraft has External Fuel Drop Tanks or Bombs fitted, check that both of the “Suspended Loads” ЛЕВОЕ/ПРАВОЕ ПОДВЕСКИ БОМБ lamps, located on the lower part of the Main Instrument Panel are illuminated.
